TECH SCHOOL BOOST STEM LEARNING FOR BRIMBANK
The Allan Labor Government is making sure every Victorian student has access to a world-class learning environment close to home - with more tech schools to be opened across the state - including in Brimbank.
Member for St Albans Natalie Suleyman and Member for Laverton Sarah Connolly today visited the site of the $13.26 million Brimbank Tech School, where construction has now commenced.
The Tech School will be located at Victoria University’s Sunshine Campus and will provide a purpose-built space for delivering free, hands-on, high-tech STEM programs to secondary school students from 14 partner schools in the Brimbank local government area, including both government and non-government schools.
Completion is scheduled for Term 3 next year, allowing students to maximise their opportunities and develop a study and career pathway that best suits their interests.
Students will receive free transportation to and from the Tech School to learn how to solve real-world challenges using industry-standard technology such as drones, robotics, battery storage systems and virtual reality equipment.
These experiences will immerse students in practical and career-linked education to develop skills and capabilities needed to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.
Independent assessments have found Tech Schools increase student engagement in STEM and build students’ awareness about exciting, in-demand jobs of the future.
Brimbank Tech School is one of six new Tech Schools being rolled out across the state as part of a $116 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2023/24.
