  • The Barro Group are applying for an exemption from the EPA, to enable them to recommence operations at their Kealba Landfill site.

    After their failure, meaning that one of the fires continues to burn, we cannot have Barro Group be allowed to have any operations at the Kealba Landfill site.

    This is why I have started this petition so that EPA and Barro know that we do not want any operations by the Barro Group at the Kealba Landfill site.

  • There are currently no operations active at the site.

    In 2019, four hot spot fires began in four garbage cells at the landfill.

    The EPA revoked the operating licence of the Barro Group at Kealba Landfill on the 1st of February 2023.

    The EPA have confirmed that 3 of the 4 hotspots have been extinguished.

  • The Kealba Landfill is located at 2-22 Sunshine Avenue, Kealba within the City of Brimbank.
