Green Gully Football Shines Bright Under New Lights
Footballers will be scoring more goals well into the evening at Green Gully Reserve in Keilor Downs, thanks to upgraded lighting on Pitch 1 backed by the Victorian Government.
Member for St Albans Natalie Suleyman today joined members of Green Gully Soccer Club to officially flick the switch on the new lights, made possible by a $280,000 investment from the Victorian Government.
Works at the venue have installed 500 lux LED lighting around the club’s main pitch, giving Green Gully’s 330-plus players additional opportunities to perfect their game.
Brighter lights allow better use and an increased number of playable hours. The new lights will also help expand junior development program and teams, giving more aspiring footballers the opportunity to kit up and get in the game. In addition, they will last longer than traditional lighting and reduce energy use and cost.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.
Initiatives like these create jobs, stimulate local economies and improve the health, wellbeing and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Natalie Suleyman MP acknowledged Green Gully Soccer Club for its commitment to delivering the project.

Quotes attributable to Member for St Albans Natalie Suleyman MP
“Green Gully Soccer Club began from humble beginnings in a tin shed in St Albans in 1955. Since then, they have grown to nurture some great talent and has played an integral role in national football from grassroots to the elite, and they deserve quality facilities they can depend on all year round.”
