Stage One of Sunshine Street Upgrade Completed
Footpath and street lighting upgrades, a raised pedestrian crossing and a sculptural seating wall feature in the newly completed upgrade of Hampshire Road in the centre of Sunshine.
The Stage 1 Hampshire Road Upgrade is a $1.18 million investment that complements major projects such as the Sunshine Community and Civic Centre ($55m), Sunshine Train Station, Bus Interchange and
level crossing removal ($880m) and the Visy Cares Hub ($5.8m) as part of the wider transformation and revitalisation of the Sunshine Metropolitan Activity Centre.
The Victorian Government contributed $200,000 through the Community Infrastructure Fund 2013-2015, managed by the Department of Land Water and Planning in partnership with Brimbank City Council which contributed provided the balance of $980,000 for this important upgrade.
Construction began in May 2015 with the upgrade opening to the public on 1 December 2015.
The upgrade was officially launched at an event on-site in the presence of Natalie Suleyman MP for St Albans.
The member acknowledged the beautification, improved safety and security the upgrade has effected in the area and the economic benefit this will have for the many businesses in the area.
